Friends of Woodthorpe Infants

Welcome to the page of Friends of Woodthorpe (PTA). Below you can find details about the different events we will be organising. Also, you can follow our Facebook page here.

Who are we and what do we do?

We are a group of volunteer parents and teachers who work together to make the school a better environment for all our children.  Our aim is simple, it is to support the school by raising money to enhance, enrich and improve the learning experiences for all pupils.  We are more commonly known by the name FOWI, which stands for Friends of Woodthorpe Infants.

In the 2023-24 academic year we raised money through:

  • 2x School discos
  • 3x Non-uniform days
  • 2x Children's competitions
  • Christmas cards
  • Christmas trees
  • Christmas fair
  • Sports day refreshments
  • New F2 starter picnic
  • Frozen Fridays
  • Summer fair
  • Family summer disco

This academic year alone our FOWI have made £5,600 profit from the events detailed above.

We have supported all the fund requests from school, which has supported:

  • Foundation: guided reading resurces and early years playground enhancements
  • Year 1: guided reading books and continuous play provision
  • Year 2: full set of banded reading books and a special leavers gift
  • Whole school: caterpillars (per class), upgrades to the pebble pathway, display boards and end of year production 'The Wizard of Oz'.

We will be posting updates across the course of the year so please keep checking back, you can also keep up to date with events on our Facebook page “Friends of Woodthorpe Infants Group”.

If you’d like to be put in contact with the PTA, please email Sara in reception on office@arnoldwoodthorpe.notts.sch.uk and your information will be shared with us.

The first FOWI meeting in 2024-25, will be taking place at school on Monday 16th September 2024 at 6.30pm where we will be discussing plans for next academic year.  Everyone is welcome!
