Meet our 10 fabulous new sports ambassadors!
We have been busy over the last few days and had some special training from Mr Smith who showed us so many games, competitions and activities. We have already been talking about our favourites (tennis, hockey and obstacle courses being bit hits) but we cannot wait to get started with leading them all on the playground at playtimes. We also met with Miss Bartlam and discussed how we can show kindness and bravery when leading our activities. We spoke about the importance of helping other children play and pledged to make sure that everyone is welcome to attend our games. We are so excited to get started with our duties and are even more excited to wear our special 'Sports Ambassador' jackets.
This week, we had a catch-up with Miss Bartlam to share how things were going at playtimes. She was so pleased to hear that we are all still LOVING our role of Sports Ambassador and remembering which days we were on duty. We discussed the activities that we had been enjoying the most over the last few months and thought about ways that we could make them our own by adding extra challenges for our players. We are very keen to combine some elements of basketball and obstacle courses together to create our own super game. We also thought about how we could attract more children to our games and agreed to move ourselves around the playground more instead of always staying in the same space.

Today we met with Miss Bartlam to reflect on our year as Sports Leaders. We discussed all the fun we have had and the activities that we have enjoyed the most (including playing fire and ice, hockey, tennis and the hoop game). We also took the time to be proud of ourselves and explain what we have been good at this year (explaining rules carefully, helping others, organising the equipment for our games and thinking of ideas for new games to play).
As part of our Sports Ambassador role, we have learnt how to be a good leader, and we thought about how we could use what we have learnt in the future. We discussed how leaders are kind and respectful and how they make sure everyone is involved. We also said that being a Sports Ambassador has taught us to check that everyone is okay and happy, and it has shown us how important it is to give everyone the chance to be what they would like to be in a game.
